So I know its been a long time since I updated my blog, and well given the circumstances I’m sure you would understand. I’ve finished my first year of uni now and I’m preparing for a fresh start with hopefully some wonderful new and exciting briefs to come next year!

Can’t wait to move into my halls in September, I’m just finalising all the agreements and forms etc. at the moment. So excited :D !

Finally, I’m working on a website revamp over at http://saouke.co.cc
Lots of new stuff to go up, and lots of new features to be implemented! Expect it in about a month. Bye for now!

Luke // Saouke

Hello!

I havn’t blogged in quite some time now, I think my last update was way back at the start of January just after new years.
Anyway, I’ve been quite busy over the past month. I’ve had two university briefs finish and I’ve had to present those and I now have three more to complete before Easter break – the end of my second semester!

Some of the stuff I’ve been getting upto over the past month;
- Updated my website quite a bit. I’m still considering making a complete new one in a similar sort of style. I’d just prefer if I had some extra pages for info about myself or other types of work. Or maybe I could consider making the page searchable for different types of work I’ve done. I’m not too sure but it will all need thinking about. I’m also considering making a splash page for the website but this seems a bit ridiculous considering how little time the site takes to load and it basically just wastes time, but I’d like my personal logo to be shown prior to anything else – maybe I should consider making my website in flash? The only problem with this is coding it. I’m not after anything fancy, just one of those average portfolios you see everywhere with a scrollbox full of past projects.
It all needs considering.

- As I’ve mentioned I’ve been busy with a lot of uni stuff lately, I’ve posted most of the work up on my website for you to have a look at, but I’m not too comfortable with the last unit I did. My tutor didn’t seem to understand what I was trying to get across, even though the rest of my class mates understood it perfectly well. I’m also apparently not allowed to use the recylce logo? How I don’t know because the whole topic was about finding ways to stop batteries going into landfill. It’s long winded anyway..

- I’m working on a set of personal Vikki Blows illustrations. I understand the copyright issues etc with using images of her and so these will not be released or sold etc. You can just view them on my website & flickr, you can also see a wip of one of them below!

In the next month or so I’m hoping to get back into my photography. I havn’t snapped any pictures in quite a while and I think I’m starting to crave it a little bit. I’m also gunna start throwing some logo ideas about and incorporating them into some mock up letterheads etc. I need some experience in that field I think.

Also to top off this update, I’m hoping to get an internship at a studio in London over the summer, just for two or three works, but the experience will be invaluable and I hope I get the place! You can check them out here, http://www.howdy-pardners.com/

Right, thats me up-to-date! :)
See you in the future,
Luke {Saouke}

Well, Christmas is now over, the new year has passed and its time to get back to work unfortunately.
I’ve got a stack of work to get done in the next two weeks for this stupid Shoot The Bunny brief, and I have no ideas as of yet that are striking or original. The only thing I have managed to come up with so far is a spin on the Mr Energizer and the Duracell Bunny (when I was researching I came across a bunny for Energizer used years ago – Duracell thieving much aha?) to make them look evil and pollutant, but I’m not sure that idea will pull through. The worst thing is I have to present my outcome in front of 120 people which I’m quite nervous about, but if I win I’ll get a spot at an agency!

Anyway, thats boring news.
Hopefully when I find a bit of free time I’ll get to updating my website a little. I’ve grown tired of the dull background colour and using Helvetica as my typeface – who knows, maybe a total revamp is in order?

I’ve been reading LosLogos 4 a lot this week. I say reading, I mean oozing over the pages. There is truly some amazing logo work in there, and I’d say its my aspiration to be featured amongst all the contributors someday.

Luke.

Have a good one on me :) .

New stuff will be posted in 09, so I’ll see you all then!

Luke.

Hey!

Sorry I’ve not posted the past couple of days, been a bit bogged down with work, essays to be written & projects to be started/finished!

However, work has begun on our clothing line secret clouds!
I’ll post some sketches of stuff I’ve come up with below, but there’s a lot more to come – gunna be researching alot more into character design so I can get my own style going. Of course I wouldn’t mind making some nice graphic/typographic tshirts aswell, but they can wait for a later date.

Cheers!

Thought I’d share with you some of the pages from my first moleskin. I’m hoping to keep jotting down sketches and ideas like this for a few years now so that I can look back on what styles & movements I was into “back in the day” ha.

It’s late at the moment so I’m only posting the one image but I’ll have more up tomorrow afternoon after I’ve scanned some more pages!

I’m getting trained up on character design at the moment for myself & Dean’s clothing line – Secret Clouds. I’ll have to do some research on screen printing and seperating my designs into spot colours if we’re going to get them screen printed. Keep your eyes and RSS feeds peeled for some w.i.p designs I’ll be uploading here in a few weeks. The first prints to go on sale will be very limited in stock, so if you’re interested be quick purchasing!

These past two days a certain style of font has caught my eyes, and I like it quite a lot. I don’t know the word to best describe it [as of yet], but I’ll post an image of work which use it.

xtrapop_obama

It’s very blockular and uses basic shapes quite a lot, but works so well I think. I’ll be coming up with some designs using this type of typography in the next week, as I’m interested to see what can be done with it.

Thats it for this week!

Luke [saouke].

My friend & collegue on my Graphic Design course Dean has uploaded his final outcome for our first brief entitled “Dear Diary”.

Lots of hard work went into it, so comments are appreciated on his video page!

I watched the second Underworld film tonight, Underworld:Evolution, quite good! The score was ace, in particular this song ; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5lzjBZyqnZ4
[Eternity & A Day]

Anyway, I wanted to know what the typeface was that they used in the film, and after some research I found it.

It’s called Eremaeus, quite a nice font too! $25 though..

I’m interested in making some of my own t-shirts in the next few weeks.

I’ll get some sketches up of some designs I’ve got planned once ive finalised them.
I’ll be making them with Imagemaker aha – design on a budget!

Yup, got bored with blogger, just didn’t have the layout I wanted for it and I couldn’t be bothered with it, just now need to find a way to redirect my blogger to this.

Anyway, I’ll be uploading recent works here soon so check back!
I’m hoping to update this a lot more than what I have done with my other blogs of past.
Stay tuned!

Here’s just a few links of where you can find me on the web at the moment.
